What is a Senior Care Pharmacist?
Years ago medical doctors and other health care professionals discovered a need for someone to advise doctors and nursing homes about their patients' medications. Today, every licensed nursing home in the United States is required to have a consulting pharmacist so most doctors are very familiar with what a consulting pharmacist does.
In our not-so-distant past an individual could consult their neighborhood pharmacist at the local pharmacy for any concerns about potential side-effects or possible dangers of combining various medications. Today, for the most part, that knowledgeable person behind the counter is not as easily accessed. Seniors get their medications from a variety of outlets such as their physician's sample supply, mail-order pharmacies, large chain pharmacies, grocery stores, and even health food stores.
The Senior Care Pharmacists at Medisort are something of a combination of that friendly neighborhood pharmacist and a consulting pharmacist. A Senior Care Pharmacist is not only available for consultation; he or she is trained in consulting about medications and Senior health care. Furthermore, through telephone interviews, medical documentation, and in-home reviews, a Senior Care Pharmacist will have a much more extensive knowledge of your health and medical conditions than a neighborhood pharmacist.
Medisort pharmacists augment the place of the neighborhood pharmacist offering education, comforting, and professional advice. (Please see our Services page for details.)
